Baldvin Vernharðsson bought his first movie camera when he was 12 years old in order to be able to shoot bike and snowboarding videos. “That kind of films have played an important role in shaping me as a cameraman og left a raw landscape,” Baldvin says but he started right away working in the movie Málmhaus after graduating from The Icelandic Film School in 2013, he had previously finished his art study in graphic design. So he started as a shooting ant, as he puts it himself, and now he has great, technical knowledge in operating a movie camera, which is also useful for him as a director. He quickly finds interesting solutions and is not afraid of trial and error concerning new technology and mediums. Baldvin received The Icelandic Music Awards in 2019 for the music video of Hatari’s song “Hatred will prevail” and og also received The Grapevine Music Awards in 2020 for the best videoa of Bjarki’s song, “Ana5”. He also filmed A Song Called Hate that got the Edda Award in 2021 as the best documentary of the year. Baldvin’s hobbies are first and foremost movies, music, visual arts and snowboarding. He has managed to successfully blend his hobbies by working with musicians on videos, as well as stage presence and designing visuals for concerts.
